"Die Sprache als Schlüssel für die Integration." Eine Analyse zur Rolle der Sprache im Integrationsprozess von Migrantinnen

Innerhalb der schweizerischen Integrationspolitik wird die lokale Sprache als Schlüssel und zugleich als Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche berufliche, soziale und kulturelle Integration von Migrant:innen gewertet. Im deutschsprachigen Raum betrifft dies die schriftdeutsche Sprache. Die vorliegende Forschungsarbeit widmet sich der Frage, ob die lokale Sprache wirklich der Schlüssel für die Integration ist. Die Forschungsfrage wird nicht nur durch die Reflexion der Entwicklung der Integrationspolitik und der Analyse von Begriffen wie Integration, Kultur und Sprache beantwortet, sondern vor allem durch die Zielgruppe selbst.
Es wurden zehn Interviews mit Migrantinnen geführt, die im Familiennachzug in die Schweiz eingewandert und schon seit längerer Zeit im deutschsprachigen Raum wohnhaft sind. Die Auswertung nach der Theoriebildung der Grounded Theory hat gezeigt, dass Netzwerke, die soziale Interaktion, die gegenseitige Akzeptanz und der kulturelle Austausch die Integration als Prozess verdeutlichen. Im Kontext einer heterogenen Gesamtgesellschaft haben nicht nur die lokale Sprache, sondern auch die importieren Sprachen der Migrantinnen eine wichtige Bedeutung. Zudem ist im deutschsprachigen Raum der Dialekt zentral. Der jeweilige individuelle Kontext und auch strukturelle Probleme entscheiden über die Verwendung und Bedeutung von Sprachen im beruflichen, sozialen und kulturellen Kontext. Sprachen stellen nicht nur ein Mittel der Kommunikation dar, sondern sie können als Werkzeug verstanden werden, um Soziales und Erinnerungen zu erzeugen. Daraus erfolgt, sich mehrfach zugehörig und beheimatet zu fühlen. Ergänzend zu den Interviews mit den Migrantinnen wurden zwei Experteninterviews mit Mitarbeitern durchgeführt, die innerhalb der Integrationsarbeit tätig sind. Ihre Sichtweisen durch die langjährige Erfahrung haben nicht nur zum besseren Verständnis der Integrationspolitik beigetragen, sondern die Aussagen der Migrantinnen ergänzt. Integration ist ein Prozess, der sowohl die Einheimischen als auch die Zugewanderten betrifft. Ziel dieser Forschungsarbeit ist es neben der Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage auch, Integration als gesamtgesellschaftliche Aufgabe zu beleuchten.

In Swiss integration policy, the local language is seen not only as the key to the successful professional, social and cultural integration of migrants but also as a basic requirement for such integration. In the German-speaking part of the country, this means Standard German. This research paper explores whether the local language really is the key to integration. The research question is answered by reflecting on the development of integration policy and on the analysis of concepts such as integration, culture and language, but also primarily by the target group itself. Ten interviews were conducted with female migrants who came to Switzerland as part of the family reunification programme and who have been living in the German-speaking part of the country for some time. The evaluation, conducted in accordance with grounded theory methodology, showed that networks, social interaction, mutual acceptance and cultural exchange exemplify integration as a process. In the context of a heterogeneous society, the imported languages of the migrant women ‒ and not just the local language ‒ are of vital importance. In addition, in the German-speaking areas, the local dialect is key. The individual context as well as structural problems determine the use and importance of languages in the professional, social and cultural context. Languages are not only a means of communication; they can also be seen as a tool for creating social connectedness and memories. This leads to a sense of multiple belonging and feeling at home in more than one place.
In addition to the interviews with the migrant women, two expert interviews were conducted with employees involved in integration work. Their perspectives, informed by many years of experience, not only contributed to a better understanding of integration policy, but also rounded out the statements of the migrant women. Integration is a process that affects both locals and immigrants. In addition to answering the research question, this research paper also seeks to examine integration as a task for the whole of society.
