Abstract

O-6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) is a human DNA repair protein that removes O6- guanine alkylation through covalent and irreversible transalkylation from the guanine O6-alkyl group onto its reactive site cysteine. Following these events, alkylated MGMT is targeted for degradation via the ubiquitin- dependent proteasomal degradation pathway.
