Abstract
The article examines the anti-feminist discourse of the New Right in Germany from a semiological and narratological perspective. It focuses on the primary resource of knowledge within this discourse, namely historical knowledge. Specifically, history is more valid here than (popular) scientific knowledge, which is dominant in similar fields such as right-wing populism. The article shows that the New Right's historical communication effectively transforms sex/gender semantics which is connected to historical sites of memory into a comprehensive gender narrative. This narrative contrasts an alleged present of sexual/ gender ambiguity - which feminism is to be held responsible for - with a historical imagination in which two genders - under masculine guidance - stood harmoniously and unambiguously side by side. These imaginations use a motif that has a fixed place in the genealogy of German masculinities: the ideal of a heroic/soldierly manhood.
