Abstract

The phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks) belong to a family of lipid kinases, which are implicated in signal transduction pathways and modulation of fundamental cellular activities such as cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, motility, survival and metabolism. The involvement of PI3Ks in such important biological processes can lead in case of their deregulation to development of various diseases including diabetes, thrombosis, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases as well as cancer. In recent years, PI3Ks have become extremely attractive target of industry and the academy as well. This contributed to the development of a numerous PI3K inhibitors and many of them have established the potential usefulness as therapeutics for treatment of cancer.
