Abstract

In this thesis, we have successfully developed a strain setup to engineer electronic properties in van der Waals materials at cryogenic temperature (1.6 K). This experimental setup can be used for both charge transport and optical measurements with strain as the control parameter. The in situ strain tunability enabled studying strain effects in different transport measurements in graphene, bilayer graphene and bilayer graphene-hBN moiré system. In addition, we developed a technique to enhance strain using the geometry of the device junction.
