El uso de vuestro en el español de Cuzco: nuevos datos y nuevas perspectivas de estudio

This article advances in explaining the use of vuestro as the second person plural possessive form in the Spanish of the Cuzco region (Peru), based on our previous work (Dankel and Gutierrez Maté 2020) and new fieldwork data. We highlight its productivity and its systematic integration into the paradigm of ustedes . We analyze its discursive value for contrasting groups with each other and its social indexicality as a marker of literacy. These pages are a snapshot of our ongoing research program and outline three proposals on the aspects still to be studied: its dialectal diffusion, its diachronic evolution and the indirect effect of language contact.
