Oszillationen eines Traumas. Biblische Erzählungen der Eroberung Jerusalems

Die babylonische Eroberung Jerusalems im 6. Jh. v.u.Z. nimmt in der erinnerten Vergangenheit des antiken Israels einen besonderen Platz ein. Der Beitrag knüpft an das Konzept des «kulturellen Traumas» an und untersucht anhand der unterschiedlichen Erzählungen der babylonischen Eroberung in II Kön 25, II Chr 36, Jer 37-40 und Jer 52, wie sich diese Eroberung in Form eines bestimmten Narrativs im kulturellen Gedächtnis des antiken Israels etabliert. Textbeispiele aus II Kön 25,4-7 par. Jer 39,3-7 und II Chr 36 illustrieren die These, dass sich (1.) im Laufe der Zeit aus den unterschiedlichen Erzählungen ein vereinfachtes Narrativ herauskristallisiert, unter anderem durch zunehmende Fokussierung auf einzelne Protagonisten und deren Typisierung, und (2.), dass sich diese Fokussierung und Typisierung sowohl auf der Mikroebene der Textgeschichte als auch auf der Makroebene der Literaturgeschichte beobachten lässt. The Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in the 6th century B.C.E. occupies a central place in the remembered past of ancient Israel. Building on the concept of "cultural trauma", the article examines the different biblical narratives of the conquest in II Kgs 25, II Chr 36, Jer 37-40 and Jer 52 and explores how a particular narrative of the Babylonian conquest is established in ancient Israel's cultural memory. Examples from II Kgs 25:4-7 // Jer 39:3-7 and II Chr 36 support the thesis that (1.) in the course of time, a simplified narrative emerged from the various narratives, one which focused increasingly on individual protagonists and their typification, and (2.) that this process of focusing and typification can be observed both at the micro level of textual history and at the macro level of literary history.
