Abstract
The biomechanical effects of orthoses and/or shoes can be assessed in a marker-based three-dimensional gait analysis. The results are usually compared to those when walking barefoot. This article describes the influencing factors that must be taken into consideration when performing a gait analysis with orthoses and/or shoes compared to barefoot gait analysis. Several points concerning kinematics, kinetics, and electromyography are addressed.
