Referendum in Sudan: Prelude for a North-South Divorce?

On 9 January, southern Sudanese voters will decide in a referendum if they should separate from the North or remain part of a united Sudan. As the southern Sudanese are expected to opt for independence, the referendum is likely to be the prelude to splitting Africa's largest country in two.
