Abstract
Theories without bounds? Limitations, possibilities and objectives of musical theories of narrativity
A glimpse onto narrative theories initially only discloses one thing: its variety. Within the multitude of these theories, this article senses the musicological preoccupation with narrativity and the limitations and objectives of the different approaches. In the course of this, the term »border« will deliberately be replaced by »space« since the latter - in the narrow sense of the word - extends the opportunity to fill blankness with contents and thus may be associated anew. Basis hereby is laid by the idea that, within the perception of the issues of the diverse theories - as e.g. the immediate adaption from other specialties, the negligence of the recipient and the actor - initial approaches and opportunities are provided, which fructifies the converse with musical narrativity and could increase feasibility of the subject of research per se.
