Abstract
The near-infrared electronic transition of silver monosulfide, AgS was measured for the first time using mass-resolved 1+1′ resonance enhanced ionization spectroscopy in the 10 000-11 000 cm−1 region. The observed vibronic bands were analysed to obtain and for the ground state, and , for the excited state of 107Ag32 S. The transitions are assigned to the A2Σ+-X2Πi system based on the rotational analysis of the Ω″=3/2 spin-orbit component of the 0-0 and 1-0 vibronic bands. The rotational constants for the X2Π state were determined to be , and .
