Abstract
This study aims to examine the current state of literary language in relation to the general
evolution of Italian, focusing mainly on the syntactic and punctuative field. The approach
is syntactic and functional, since for each phenomenon in presumed expansion or
evolution, the syntactic characteristics have been examined, but above all the functions
performed in the co-text. This method explains the meaning of the title "Emerging trends
between syntax, punctuation and textuality": textuality is, so to speak, the domain in
which all the syntactic structures and punctuative phenomena examined are reflected. The
work is therefore a study on linguistic variation conducted with the methods of text
linguistics, but also a stylistic analysis both between the two corpora compared and
especially within the sixteen recent novels that make up the main corpus.
