Abstract

Vesuvianite of violet reddish colour from N-Pakistan is described. The material is polycrystalline and occurs within a carbonate-bearing hydrogrossular-vesuvianite skarn. It can be used for cabochons and carvings and might be not easy to identify with classical gemmological instruments. The Raman spectrum however is easy to obtain.
