"Licht im Überfluss" : Die spirituelle Theologie Johannes Oekolampads

In diesem Beitrag wird der Versuch unternommen, die bisher noch wenig bearbeitete Theologie des Basler Reformators Johannes Oekolampad in ihren Grundzügen darzustellen und nach ihren Quellen zu fragen. Ausgeprägter als bei anderen Reformatoren ist seine Theologie von der Pneumatologie geprägt. Diese Prägung wird im Blick auf Oekolampads Verständnis des Glaubens, der Bibel, der Kirche und des Abendmahls herausgearbeitet. Als eine wesentliche Inspirationsquelle dieser spirituellen Theologie lassen sich die griechischen Kirchenväter erkennen, deren Schriften Oekolampad - vom Geist des Humanismus motiviert - übersetzt hatte. Die Kritik Karl Barths am vermeintlichen Spiritualismus verhilft dazu, das Profil der Theologie Oekolampads herauszuarbeiten. Oekolampad is known as the reformer of the church in Basle. In contrast to other reformers his theology so far has received only little attention. His works are not edited and there is no treatise of his theology. The contribution attempts to identify the main source and the character of his theology. It is a spiritual theology which is strongly influenced by the writings of the Greek church fathers. Pneumatology plays an important role in it. That guiding thread is pursued through different topics of Oekolampads theology: his understanding of faith, of the Bible, of the church and of the Eucharist. Karl Barth's critique of Oekolampad is taken into consideration in order to sharpen the view on his theology.
