Abstract
The paper presents a new hypothesis on the reading of the second last entry of the list of participants in Ramesses IV's most extensive stone mining expedition commemorated in the Great Hammamat Inscription. In consideration of the linguistic and compositional heterogeneity of the text, the key word of the passage (jmtjw/j.m(w)tjw) is interpreted as a Late Egyptian participle and is translated as "the dead."
