Forschen mit "Kultur" - Revisionen und Potenziale

"Culture" has become a key concept in a variety of disciplines for quite some time now. Simultaneously the term is criticized a lot, since it is considered to be problematic both scientifically and socio-politically. In view of the discipline of Folklore Studies ( Volkskunde ) / European Ethnology / Cultural Anthropology the article retraces the functions of the concept of culture. Following the presentation of these functionalizations, which have a disciplining effect on "culture", the author proposes three revisions in order to grasp the concept of culture in a more complex way.
