Compared with the 890 German children seen at a psychiatric unit, the 38 foreign patients were more likely to be lower class, have working mothers, and be in the lower tracks of the educational system or attend schools for children with learning problems. Conduct disorder was less frequent in foreign than in German Ss, and specific delays in development were seen as frequently among the foreigners as among lower-class Germans.
