Abstract

H-1 NMR spectra reveal the presence of 1: 1 complexes of cobalt(II) and tpy (tpy = 2,2`:6,2``-terpyridine) in solution and a solid-state structural determination of Co(tpy)(OAc)(2)center dot 0.5H(2)O reveals the presence of hydrogen-bonded dinuclear units with both mono- and bidentate acetate ligands.
