Abstract

The psychological characteristics of anorectic patients were compared in studies in Germany and in North America. German adolescent patients scored significantly lower on the Eating Attitude Test and the Eating Disorder Inventory than did Canadian patients. On the other hand, self-image as measured by the Offer Self-Image Questionnaire was strikingly similar among German and American adolescent anorectics.
